NZ Herald Property Report

Recently the New Zealand Herald published their Quarterly Housing Report. I have managed to get my hands on a digital copy NZH Property Report. If you weren’t able to get a hard copy, then download this report. It makes good holiday reading.

The thing to remember is this; the data comes from Quotable Value (QV) and represents settled sales. That is,  sales where money and keys have changed hands. Any REINZ reports (what are reported from the real estate industry) are based on unconditional sales. That is, sales that are agreed to but have not yet settled. The difference between the two is that settled sales are often months behind unconditional sales. The REINZ stats tend to be closer to what is currently happening in the market place where as settled sales tend to be “I already knew that some time ago.” Both have relevance. You just need to be aware of which one you are looking at.
